Preparation

Abdominal ultrasound

  • Nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours before your examination (except to swallow necessary medications).

Obstetrical

  • Early dating/viability ultrasounds, Anatomy, NT & IPS require full bladder (Finish approx. 4 glasses/1L) of water an hour prior to your appointment.
  • BPP or obstetrical routine ultrasounds to check growth and well being after 28 weeks do not require full bladder or any preparation.

Pelvic Ultrasound

  • You need a full bladder.
    Finish drinking 4 glasses of water ( approx. 1L) an hour prior to your appointment.

Combination Pelvic and Abdominal Ultrasound

  • Nothing to eat for 8 hours but complete drinking 40 ounces or 1 Litres of water 1 hour before your examination.

Services requiring no preparation:

  • Abdomen Limited for Hernia
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Thyroid ultrasound
  • Renal/Bladder ultrasound ( full bladder)
